Our Geotechnical Advisory Group are a team of highly qualified individuals with extensive experience, particularly with engineering projects at the waters edge (maritime, coastal, estuarine and rivers). The teams aim is to provide timely and cost effective guidance on projects of any type or size and are currently looking to expand across our network of UK offices.
You will work both in the office and on site where you will be given early responsibility and the opportunity to contribute to both large complex projects as well as small specialist ones across the company. You will work alongside skilled and experienced colleagues on projects where your involvement and contribution will be actively encouraged.
Key duties are as follows:-
To liaise with clients (internally and externally) to provide geotechnical support and advice.
To carry out geotechnical desk studies
To design, specify, procure, supervise and interpret ground investigations.
To carry out geotechnical analysis and design.
To review and check the work of others in accordance with the Quality Management System.
To manage projects technically and financially.
To develop and extend the technical capability of the Geotechnical Group.
To advise and publicise the work of the company through presentations, technical publications and papers
In terms of training our competency-based training and development scheme means that you have a clear route to plan your current and future career aspirations. Our structured training schemes provide routes through to Chartership for ICE, CIWEM, IMechE, IStructE and other relevant institutions. We also recognise the importance of personal development and can offer courses to suit every need.
You will be a recent graduate with enthusiasm about working in the geotechnical field. You must have an MEng in Civil Engineering (in exceptional cases, a BEng will also be considered) or an equivalent Engineering Geology qualification. An MSc or PhD in Soil Mechanics is also desirable.
Also desirable is experience of vacation work or a ‘sandwich’ placement within an engineering consultancy, but this is not essential.
